Our story

The house of the alebrije

An alebrije is a creature that shouldn't exist — part lizard, part bird, part dream — painted in every color at once. When the Reyes family opened this casa in 2019, that felt exactly right: a cocina that's part Oaxaca, part Jalisco, part Salinas Valley, and entirely its own thing.

Everything starts at the wood-fired comal: tortillas pressed by hand every morning, salsas roasted and ground in volcanic stone, birria braised low for 48 hours. The produce comes from the valley outside our door — the salad bowl of the world grows our cilantro, our chiles, our sweet corn.

Then there's the wall. Two hundred twelve bottles of tequila and mezcal, collected one distillery visit at a time. Ask for a flight and our agave stewards will walk you from Jalisco's highlands to Oaxaca's palenques, half an ounce at a time.

Mi casa es su casa — de verdad.
